The global energy transition is experiencing significant growth, with 239 GW of new solar capacity added in 2022. Nearly half of this comes from rooftop PV installations [1]. This exciting progress highlights the critical need for reliable and accurate data to ensure that residential and commercial businesses can plan, design, and invest in assets that maximize their energy generation potential.

Finding the right data for Aurora's solar modelling

To facilitate its global expansion and advance its global mission, Aurora needed a dependable weather data provider. This source had to empower users worldwide, enabling them to make well-informed choices regarding energy consumption and storage. The data had to meet high accuracy standards to serve Aurora's customers effectively and seamlessly integrate into their platform on a large scale.

Aurora prioritizes the customer experience, embedding data directly into their platform to allow solar installers to design rooftop systems that meet client needs and maximize the energy generation potential. Aurora's platform uses a tailored approach, using Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) data from Solcast [2] for each location to model future generation for every homeowner. This allows their users to accurately forecast the amount of sunlight each rooftop will receive, resulting in a precise energy generation estimation. The Aurora Solar platform provides accessible information on potential energy generation and cost savings associated with solar panel installations while simplifying the process for users. Aurora offers gold standard solar data for its customers globally with the help of Solcast weather data.
